S3 curriculum: This new way of approaching STEM integrates four learning studios—Move, Life, Build, and Art—in a way that invites every kind of thinker to become problem solvers in their community. At each session, students learn a new challenge facing their coastal home and work together to engineer potential solutions.
Perks: Volunteers will receive free breakfast, lunch, and snacks as well as a field day offsite.
S3 Teacher Training
K–8 teachers often want to teach STEM and sustainability but frequently face obstacles:
They’re asked to teach outside their specialty (e.g., elementary ed majors teaching life science).
Tech and tools change fast, and training rarely keeps pace.
Big topics can feel hard to make local, kid-friendly, and classroom-ready.
Sustainable STEM By-the-Sea offers two ways for teachers to learn how to incorporate S3 curriculum design into their classroom:
CEU-certified online modules—coming soon!
Hands-on field-based learning—work side-by-side with USM and MSU educators to learn the S3 curriculum and earn free CEUs volunteering at our S3 camps. Register here!
Bonus: We cover the CEUs.
