IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

As part of this funded project, we are conducting a research study to understand how programs like the S3 Camp influence students’:

● STEM interest and curiosity

● Sense of place and environmental stewardship

● Confidence (agency) in solving real-world problems

● Collaborative and problem-solving skills

Your child’s participation in this research is completely voluntary. Whether or not you choose to participate will not affect your child’s ability to attend or fully enjoy the camp. This research has been approved by USM’s IRB (Protocol Number 26-173). If you agree for your child to participate, please review and complete the Parental Consent Form at the secure link below:

Complete Parental Consent Form Here

If you complete the parental consent form, your child will be given an age-appropriate assent form (a simplified version explaining the study) that they will review and sign electronically before the camp begins.

All information collected will remain confidential. No personal names will appear in reports or publications. The goal of this research is to improve STEM programs for Gulf Coast students and communities.
